It is my understanding that passports into Canada and Mexico are going to be required in 2007 for everyone. Until then birth certificates will work. A travel agent should know for sure.

To enter Canada she needs either a passport, or two pieces of ID, including a birth certificate, one piece of ID must have a picture. She will also need these to get back into the US from either Canada or Mexico.

Here is the Canadian Immigration website. It shodl help you.

Not if you're going just across the border to Mexico. I've been to Reynosa 3 times and my husband went to another border town, all w/o passports.

I think so, When I was 10 I went to the Dominican Republic, and my birth certificate was my passport, but that was many years ago. Ask someone at the post office, they usually know that sort of stuff.

For Canada, either one if she's an American citizen. My husband was suppose to go to Canada but we didn't know he needed either his American birth certificate or a passport. The airlines would not accept his State of Hawaii driver license that has his picture and Social Security number.

I worked for Canada customs for two years. Americans do not need a passport to visit Canada. You need goverment issued photo ID and proof of citizenship (birth certificate),she needs two peices of goverment issued ID (birth certicicate plus one other). Most people under 16 have no photo ID; so she will not need it. If both birth parents are not traveling with her, then you need a notarized letter form the other birth parent giveing her permission to travel, or proof of sole-custody. It has not been decided here yet, but you all will probably need a passport after 2007. In Canada you can include any of your children under 16 on your passport, check with your local passport office to see if you can this in the US (I doubt it).

hi mate! when I were given a passport, i did it the quick way, were given an appointment with the passport workplace and were given my passport interior of 7 days (yet i paid extra). You dont favor to deliver moms or fathers certificate in any respect, you basically favor to fill contained in the tips about the mummy or dad (like the position they born etc) they prefer having the fathers information! i imagine you should fill it both containers nonetheless yet they prefer the fathers information for each thing on a passport application! you basically favor your daughters start certificare, 2 signed photos (one signed out of your health care service or instructor etc) and thats it mate! sturdy success!

You need some type of ID. She doesn't need a passeport, if you are coming from the US, but she needs a birth certificate. I can't tell you about Mexico, though.
