"Hi" ...OK...so Vancouver on a budget , huh ? *lol*

Well one of the things you should get is a "Transit Pass" which is good on the buses, the Sky Train, and the Sea Bus ( inexpensive harbour tour to North Vancouver) and Londale Quay which is free and quite interesting.

With a transit pass you can also visit via the sky train all of the outlying areas ( Burnaby which has Metro Town a giganhimoungous Mall , New Westminster etc etc.) and even taking public transportation all the way to Victoria on Vancouver Island which if you should see as it is our Provincial Capital and quite beautiful also.!

This would entail the price of a return ticket on B.C. Ferries but is a terrific trip if you can afford it.

I'm not sure where you live but if it's a warm where you are then should get up to one of our local ski hills namely Cypress Mountain or Grouse Mountain with Cypress being accesible by transit and Grouse costing you for the Gondala ride ( spectacular btw ) but definately worth seeing either of these venues.

Greyhound and Pacific Coach Lines goes to Whistler (Home for the 2010 winter Olympics) from Vancouver and that's certainly worth a look at...the Sea to Sky Highway is quite spectacular and rather interesting at certain moments ! lol

Now as concerns beautiful downtown Vancouver itself there is a varity of things to do, from Granville Island, to Gas Town,Robson St., China Town, Stanley Park, Vancouver Art Gallery, the Lookout, Vancouver Aquarium, Vancouver Museum and Observatory, Imax Theatre and great shopping and lots of Pubs and great multinational "food" places ! *lol

I'd suggest you "Yahoo" some of the places I mentioned and you'll be pleasantly surprised as thay are all easy to get to. You'll find when you are here that Vancouver that is a safe city and one can walk around and just enjoy the many facets it has to offer quite easily !

With the exception of "The Lookout" everything is either free or sensibly priced and to walk around the Sea Wall in Stanley Park just costs you calories , however another option is to rent a bicycle (lots of rentals ) and bike around the Park.

The spectacular views of ocean and mountain are complimentary of course ! *lol*

I'm not sure if this is your idea of etertainment but one of the things that you may very well enjoy is the "Antropology Museum" at U.B.C...and it's again sensibly priced , it is world class actually and explains B.C. from it's earliest days ( Ice Age )and has one of the best "First Nations" exhibits, bar none, anywhere in the world...seriously !

Anyway there is tons to do and you won't be bored !

Here's some interactive maps...for navigation purposes and a good web site as regards Vancouver......

There are TONS of cheap places to visit in Vancouver...

This website: http://www.venturevancouver.com is great for finding cheap to expensive activities. The best activities of course are outdoors, the Grouse Grind is excellent if you want to climb a mountain, it'll only cost you $5 to get down, however, its only open in the summer!

Try Stanley Park, its awesome and almost everything is free, as well, the Museum of Anthropology will be reopening soon, and the carvings are fabulous (it also includes the one found on the Canadian $20 bill and costs around $10)

Lynn Canyon is awesome and free, the 30 foot pool and twin falls are really fun!!!

Looking for something gruesome and cool? The Vancouver Police Museum is good fun for under $15 and has famous murders and a huge collection of police memorabilia - stick to some of the Borroughs of Vancouver like Chinatown and Gastown, touristy, and especially Chinatown, easy on the Dollar!

I suggest you also take the mini-ferries in False Creek - totally awesome and 2.50 one way... Granville Island is cool too, good food, wines, etc and other Canadian stuff!!!

Happy Hunting!

Vancouver is expensive to live in , but to eat out, is still one of the cheapest in Canada ! Head to asian food places.. like Chinatown. Or Hon's on Robson Street which is a huge Chinese restaurant with seperate meat / vegetarian kitchens even! Where else can you get 12 dumplings for C$6.50 (this price has not increased in over 10 years) ! But Vancouver Life magazine and check out food places to eat. Or else our Vancouverite perennial favourite - White Spot !
