I have never been outside the US, have a few (dumb) questions: Where and how do I get a passport? Will my credit cards be good in Canada? What are some good points of interest in Vancouver? Thanks

You can get passport application forms from the Post Office normally, and it does take a few weeks to get one, lots of stuff to fill out.

Yes your credit cards will work.

Points of interest - Stanley Park is beautiful, you can hire a bike and go for a ride, it's right on the edge of the city.

Also good - the Granville Island Markets, Commercial Drive (if you like the alternative scene) and sightseeing spots in North Van like Lynne Canyon and the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

If you have lots of time head up to Whistler or one of the local mountains, Seymour, Cypress or Grouse.

You can go to your local passport office and or get an application online and then take it in.

Your credit cards will work in Canada.

You should visit stanley park and the aquariaum, granville Island, there are quite a view place to see in Vancouver. If you have a car and a whole day you should travel up to Whistler.

Everybody in the World today should have a passport. You need to go through your US Goverment Agency.

That said, I don't think that you need one yet to travel to Canada. (I'm Canadian)

Your credit cards are good anywhere in the world. Make sure that you have an ATM card. That will allow you to withdraw local currency in Vancouver.

I'm not from Vancouver, though I have been there 3 or 4 times.
