We're wanting to take a camping trip up to the bridge, but the only camping I can find online is either far away or the Capilano RV park. We don't exactly know when we'll go, so we can't make reservations. Is there camping in forests around there that are just first come first serve? All of them online that I've seen are nice places with pools and planned activities and whatnot, which is way more than what we need and want to spend. We just want a little place in the trees to put our tent for a night or two. Do they have that around there? Thanks!!!

The only camping close by, the only camping for many miles around, is at Capilano RV Park. It's conveniently located but not really camping. It's one of those ones that are basically an RV parking lot though they do have tent spaces. The area around the bridge is not exactly wilderness. You can take a city bus to within easy walking distance of the bridge itself. On one side of the river at least, it's a residential area around the bridge. Closest simple genuine campground is at Porteau Cove, 1/2 hour or so north on Hwy 99, but it does tend to be busy and you might have trouble finding a spot in high season if you just show up.
