Compared to Vancouver (and the rest of the south coast of BC, and the Pacific Northwest, for that matter), just about any place on Earth has either a colder winter, or a hotter summer, or both. Vancouver is known for it's mild climate. It's why we're so mellow... that and the pot. ;)

I live near Vancouver and I have a relative who lives not far from Munich. We always compare the weather. I think it gets a little colder in winter in the interior of Germany/Austria, and possibly a little hotter in summer but in general the climates seem to be quite similar in temperature. I think Vancouver gets more rain. The amount of snow Vancouver gets is completely unpredictable, and so is how long it stays on the ground.

In Munich you wish to have a Jacket, in Vancouver you wish to have : hat, gloves, jacket, hot footwear, hot sock, everlasting heater...... Vancouver absolutely is chillier in Winter than Munich is.

Munich get's big snow more often than Vancouver - when I lived there it was bone chilling cold in winter.
