I think you will enjoy Victoria and Vancouver Island more... The ferry trip is wonderful, and there is lots to see and do there. Whistler is nice, but its expensive, and not terribly exciting this time of year.

It depends what you like. Whistler is mainly known for skiing, although the surrounding area has some beautiful scenery. It tends to be a little on the snooty side, and it's expensive to do almost anything.

Vancouver Island has plenty to do and more variety. Victoria on the east coast, is very nice, but quaint for a capital city. Nanaimo is a bit of a bust. Some people adore Tofino, but once again, can be pricey. The drive there, though, is breathtaking.

Don't forget about the Southern Gulf Islands. There are several to choose from, with regular ferry service, and between all of them you're bound to find something!

Best of luck!

Go to the Island, Whistler is great and all but the Island has so much more to see and do and it offers something for any age, on the ferry boat ride over you'll find brochures for 100's of different places to go and things to do. If your looking for a nice place to visit, I suggest Tofino. Whistler is just an over priced ski resort town, its nice but more so in the winter.

i agree with the first person, i think van island would be more enjoyable at this time of year. whistler is best as a ski resort, and there isnt much snow there right now.

Van island is very pretty, and your son might enjoy going whale watching
